RUNRIGHT-3D FAQ'S

What is RUNRIGHT-3D?

Answer:

RUNRIGHT-3D is a next-generation 3D running-shoe gait analysis system designed to transform how retailers fit and sell running shoes. Positioned behind a treadmill, it uses two 3D cameras to scan the runner and create a complete 3D skeletal model. From this, the system captures 44 detailed gait metrics, weighs their relevance, and organises them into five key Macrometrics for a clear and comprehensive performance overview.

With no markers, insoles, cables, or lengthy setup, customers simply step onto the treadmill and run. Each shoe is analysed and scored in under 20 seconds, and the process can be repeated until the perfect pair is found—instantly elevating the in-store experience.

All analysis data is securely stored in the cloud, including shoes a customer tried but didn’t prefer, helping you understand their needs on future visits. The system also shows customers how they performed in each shoe at their preferred running speed, and scores every model on performance, cushioning, injury protection, and energy return.

RUNRIGHT-3D also includes a powerful CMS for retailers. The dashboard allows you to maintain detailed customer records and track purchase history, while offering valuable business insights from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection—giving you full visibility and control over your running retail business.

Why use 3D gait analysis instead of traditional 2D video analysis?

Answer: Traditional 2D video analysis estimates foot motion and pronation by measuring angles, which can be subjective and don’t reliably predict dynamic behaviour while running. In contrast, RunRight-3D captures continuous, real-time 3D data, offering objective, precise analysis tied to actual running behaviour — including speed, stride, and body mechanics.

What do my customers get from a RUNRIGHT-3D session?

Answer: After the analysis, not only are your customers be able to see the results for all the shoes they have tried on, in one place, each shoe is scored and so it is easy to identify the best running shoes for their running need, They also receive a personalised report which includes their gait parameters and performance scores, and includes recommendations and guidance on how best to improve their scores in the shoe they have selected to buy.

Can RUNRIGHT-3D help me pick better running shoes for my customers?

Answer: Yes. The system is easy to use. You can match your customers with shoes that optimise performance, reduce injury risk, and suit their running speed and gait pattern — rather than relying on generic “foot type + shoe type” rules.

Who is RUNRIGHT-3D for — elite runners, casual runners, or both?

Answer: RunRight-3D is suitable for both competitive and recreational runners. Whether you run fast or at a gentle pace, the 3D scan captures your actual gait dynamics. This allows shoe recommendations and injury-prevention suggestions tailored to your individual running style and speed.

Does running speed affect the analysis?

Answer: Yes — speed plays a significant role. Gait and biomechanics vary with running speed. What works for a fast runner might not suit a slower recreational runner. RunRight-3D considers speed in its analysis, helping to ensure that shoe recommendations reflect how you actually run.

How does a RUNRIGHT-3D system benefit a running store or retailer?

Answer: For a store, RunRight-3D adds evidence-based shoe fitting: you can confidently recommend and sell shoes tailored to the customer’s gait, reducing returns and increasing satisfaction. Your customers also go away with a personalised report that they can show to their friends – great for marketing.  Additionally, the CMS is a powerful tool where you can track which shoes sell, which technician sells them, and even follow up with buyers (e.g. to offer different sizes or discounts).

Is RUNRIGHT-3D suitable for injury prevention or rehabilitation?

Answer: Yes. Because the system analyses gait biomechanics in detail, it can identify movement patterns or inefficiencies that might contribute to injury risk. This information can guide shoe choice and also be useful for physiotherapists, coaches, or clinicians aiming to prevent or manage running-related injuries.

Do customers need special preparation for a RUNRIGHT-3D scan?

Answer: Generally no — aside from wearing their regular running shoes and shorts (or bringing the shoes they intend to test). During the treadmill run, the 3D cameras scan naturally, capturing data in motion. The goal is to reflect your typical running gait.  A short warm up for each shoe is recommended.

How accurate is the 3D scanning and analysis?

Answer: RUNRIGHT-3D uses advanced “time-of-flight” or 3D camera technology and a bespoke capture engine to produce consistent scans and detailed gait data. This makes its measurements more reliable than subjective assessments or simple video-based tools.

How long does a typical RUNRIGHT-3D assessment take?

Answer: From setup to receiving your report, a RunRight-3D assessment is designed to be quick and efficient. Many partner stores offer the scan as part of a running-shoe fitting session or assessment service.  Each scan only takes 20 seconds but the actual assessment time will be longer when you factor in analysing a number of shoes and a short warm up for each shoe.

How can I book a RUNRIGHT-3D assessment or find a participating store?

Answer: You can check our store finder.

Is RUNRIGHT-3D only for runners, or can walkers or casual joggers use it too?

Answer: RunRight-3D is primarily designed for running gait analysis — but casual joggers or those who run occasionally can benefit too. Because it captures your natural running mechanics, the insights can help choose more suitable shoes even if you’re not a frequent runner. However, walking gait may produce different data; the system is optimised for running.

Is there a cost for the assessment, or is it free with shoe purchase?

Answer: This depends on the store or partner. Some stores may include RUNRIGHT-3D analysis free when you buy running shoes. Others may charge a small fee for the assessment alone. Check with the store offering RUNRIGHT-3D.

What happens after the scan — can I get a report or follow-up advice?

Answer: Yes — after the scan you receive a detailed report with gait analysis data and recommendations/guidance to help improve your scores.  If desired, store staff or certified specialists (e.g. podiatrists or running-shoe experts) can review results with you and advise on footwear, form, or injury prevention.
